We are leaving from Michigan. We had planned to start in Addison but have heard there are not many sales there. Where would you suggest we start? We were hoping to be able to get to Chattanooga by end of day Friday.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

First, there is no way you're going to make it to Chattanooga by Friday night unless you just drive right by tons of vendors. From northern Ohio to Chattanooga is about 9 hours of driving normally. During the 127 Yard Sale, it will take much longer and that's without any stops.

It's true there aren't as many sales in Michigan, but if it's not out of the way you might as well check it out and then head into Ohio. The further south you go the more sales you'll run into. Where there are fewer sales it won't take as long to drive through.

We live in Georgia so we start in Alabama and head north. If the northern area is anything like the south, you won't go far. The first year we did this trip I assumed we could go at least 75 miles a day. The first day in Alabama we went 6 miles in 8 hours. Unless you plan on driving past many stops, you will not make it to Chattanooga. Take your time & enjoy what you find. This year we are planning on 1 day in Alabama(which is not enough), and then 3 days between Signal Mountain and Crossville. For us on the southern end, this area is packed with sellers and vendors, so we don't have to travel too far.

Plan a slow trip through Preble County Ohio. The Preble County Fair is in Eaton so there will be a lot of traffic.

We are planning on going from Ohio and going south. How do we decide on where to get off of 127? Are there signs everywhere or is there a map of every sale?

The majority of sales are on Route 127. The ones that are off the road will have signs.
